Special Education Teachers and Paraprofessionals Join the Wolf Pack
With the start of the 2023-2024 school year, special education teachers and paraprofessionals will be employed directly by Porter Township School Corporation.
Porter Township School Corporation is part of Porter County Education Services. This Cooperative consists of the public school corporations in Porter County and collaborates to provide special education services and career and technical education to the students in Porter County (the School City of Hobart participates in our Porter County Career programs as well).
This change comes to provide school corporations the opportunity to employ those teachers and paraprofessionals that work full-time supporting our students in our school buildings. We are excited about this opportunity to continue to support our special education staff and look at our student needs and programming development.
Porter Township will continue with the other districts in Porter County to support Porter County Education Services to assist our students through shared services both at the SELF school in Valparaiso and through services offered in our school buildings. We will continue to partner to provide outstanding opportunities in career and technical education through the Porter County Career Center and through the career and technical programs offered throughout the County (Porter Township offers culinary arts, criminal justice, and early childhood within our district).
This is one step in looking at how to better serve students with special needs. We think it’s a great first step, as we believe we have some of the very best special education staff in the County and are pleased to officially welcome them to our Pack!
