PTSC Update

Boone Grove Middle School Transitions

With the end of the 2022-2023 school year, we have some goodbyes and hellos to share.

Mr. Lichtenberger shared:

The time has come for a change. I have officially turned in my resignation from PTSC effective at the end of this school year. This was a very hard decision. I have been blessed to lead BGE when it was a k-5 elementary school, BGE when it was a 4+5 building, both BGE and BGMS at the same time for a few years and most recently just BGMS. I have been supported by awesome superintendents and peers. I have had the opportunity to work with great teachers and support staff. Not only will I miss all these wonderful people, but I will also miss the fantastic students, and their families, that I have had the opportunity to get to know, work with, and support over the past 13 years. I have seen students start at BGE as KDG students and finish their school careers as BGHS graduates. Some of those students had me as their principal for 9 years! They made it despite me! It is my hope that you will support the person selected to lead BGMS in the future with just as much enthusiasm and energy that you have shown to me. I cannot thank you enough for allowing me to help guide your children along their learning path, it has been an absolute honor. There have been some ups and downs along the way (COVID), but we have always been able to move forward. I will be leaving with my head held high as I know when I walk out of the complex doors for the final time, I will do so knowing these three things:

1. I am leaving BGMS in a better spot than when I took over,

2. I have always put kids first in my decisions,

3. I have always tried to “Do the Right Thing” both in word and action.

Thank you to all of you and may God bless each and every one of you.

Sincerely,

Mr. L.

Porter Township wishes Mr. Lichtenberger all the happiness as he enters his next moments in life. We are thankful for all that he has done for the students, parents, and community in Porter Township!

For the 2023-2024 school year, we will have a new leader as principal. As many of you know, Mrs. Jessica Wotherspoon joined the Boone Grove Middle School team as Assistant Principal and Counselor during the 2022-2023 school year. When the principal position came open, Mrs. Wotherspoon has been named as the next principal.

Mrs. Wotherspoon said:

I am so grateful for the opportunity to be the Principal of Boone Grove Middle School.  I have worked as an educator for 15 years.  My academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Purdue University and a Masters in Business Administration for Educators from Indiana University.  It has been a privilege to be a part of the PTSC school community for the past 9 years serving as a teacher, a member of the high school guidance team, and an administrator.  I believe strongly in building relationships with our students, staff, parents, and the entire school community. At BGMS our goal is to help students build a solid foundation for their future and strive each day to create a positive and safe learning environment that supports every student every day.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.  I can be reached at 219-464-4828 or at jessica.wotherspoon@ptsc.k12.in.us.  I look forward to another great school year! -Mrs. Wotherspoon

We look forward to what Mrs. Wotherspoon will offer our Porter Township School Corporation as she serves every student, every day at Boone Grove Middle School. We are currently collecting applications for a new assistant principal for Boone Grove Middle School. Additionally, we are collecting applications as we will be adding a new social worker so that we have a social worker supporting Porter Lakes Elementary School and a social worker supporting the Boone Grove Complex (Boone Grove Elementary and Boone Grove Middle School). Bright days are ahead!

Things to Know/Do:

Tell your friends and neighbors about this new way to know what is happening at PTSC! Even if your neighbors don’t have kids in school, tell them about our weekly updates so they can hear the great news of what happens at PTSC!

Every Wednesday is a 30-minute delayed start. If we have a 2-hour delay, students will arrive at school 2 hours after the regular start time for the building.
